We attended Rudy's preschool graduation a few weeks ago. Total cute overload! The ceremony was supposed to be at a local park, but the weather threatened ruin, so they moved into his classroom at the last minute. It was cozy. And remember how exciting it was to be in school after school time? The place was fairly ringing with that energy.
| The kids all wore t-shirts they tie-dyed themselves. |

This last year of pre-K has been great for Rudy, and we don't have a doubt at all that we made the right choice keeping him back another year. We've watched him positively thrive here! He's made huge strides with the social aspects we were worried about, and is fully part of the classroom community in a way he wasn't ready to be before. Academically, there was never any worry, and his skills have only increased--particularly his math skills. Kid loves numbers. "Mom, can you count to a google?" "Uh, no." "Can't you even TRY?" "No."
So now he (and Josephine, too) are in "camp" for the summer--really the same school day except that the activities are less academically focused and more about imagination play. Last week, for instance was Pirate Week so they came home with newspaper pirate hats and treasure maps aged with tea.
Kindergarten begins at the end of August, and he will be going to a terrific school that's walking distance from our house. However, Rudy has informed us that he wants to take the bus! My brave boy.
Yesterday we were talking about his new school and he asked me, "Will you feel sweet and sour when I go, Mama?" It took me a moment to realize he meant "bittersweet!"
Yes, I will totally feel sweet and sour when my beloved pork dumpling goes off to Kindergarten. God, he's delicious.
