Today was Rudy's second day, and the first Parent Coffee hour, happening during school hours in the meeting hall across the courtyard. We dropped Josephine off with Aunt Kimmy before heading out to school (they had a ball picking grapes and raspberries in her yard), and got settled in right away. The kids had taken out the marble tower and once Rudy saw this, he forgot about me entirely. I asked him if he minded if I stepped out for a bit, and he practically pushed me out the door! I ended up having an unheard-of, leisurely, hot cup of tea while talking with some of the other parents. It was at least 20 minutes before Mrs. Kat came to get me. 20 whole minutes!

Getting a little help from some other marble engineers.

"If you want to see a star, look at Rudy!If you want to see a star, look at Rudy!
He's a shining star to see,
he's a friend to you and me!
If you want to see a star, look at Rudy!"
(the kids sing this to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It,"and pass the star around.)
Rudy puts the felt pickle in its place on the"train" of food theHungry Little Caterpillar ate during the week.
